Manufacturing Process

Step 1: Order and Design

Confirm customer requirements, including size, pressure rating, material, end connection, and applicable standards.

For the forged steel ball valve, technical drawings and production plans are prepared before manufacturing starts.

Step 2: Forging & Casting

The main body and key pressure-containing parts are produced by forging to ensure higher strength and better internal structure.

For a forged steel ball valve, forged raw material is selected, heated, and formed, then rough cleaned for the next process.

Step 3: Machining

All forged parts are machined by CNC equipment, including body cavity, flange ends, stem hole, ball, and seat pocket.

This step is critical for the forged steel ball valve to ensure dimensional accuracy, sealing performance, and smooth operation.

Step 4: Assembly

After machining and inspection, all components are assembled, including body, ball, stem, seat, gasket, bolts, and handle.

Each forged steel ball valve is assembled according to standard procedures to guarantee reliable performance.

Step 5: Testing & Quality Assurance

Finished valves undergo pressure test, shell test, seat leakage test, and operation test according to international standards.

Every forged steel ball valve must pass quality inspection before delivery.

Step 6: Painting and Finishing

After testing, the valve surface is cleaned, painted or anti-rust coated, marked, packed, and prepared for shipment.

Applications

  • High-pressure environment: The pressure rating that forged steel ball valves can withstand is usually in the range of Class 600 to Class 2500 (refer to ASME B16.34 standard), which is much higher than that of cast steel ball valves (Class 150 to Class 300). They are suitable for high-pressure systems such as oil pipelines and natural gas transportation.
  • High-temperature conditions: The forged steel material maintains stable performance within the temperature range of -29℃ to 200℃ (in accordance with ASTM A105 standards). Some special models can withstand temperatures up to 425℃ (for example, with the addition of graphite sealing rings), and are suitable for power plant steam systems or refining and chemical plants.
  • Corrosive media: Through surface hardening treatment or nickel plating process, forged steel ball valves can withstand weak acid and weak alkali media. However, for highly corrosive environments, stainless steel or alloy steel variants should be selected.
